The International Food Information Council (IFIC) Foundation has developed a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)-approved continuing professional education (CPE) online program, Helping Consumers Get the “Big Picture:” Practical Approaches to Promoting a Healthful, Balanced Eating Pattern.

If you are a registered dietitian or a dietetic technician, registered, simply follow the instructions to earn one CPE credit hour following your successful completion of the CPE questions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the CPE program, the learner should be able to:

  1. Discuss scientific support for a balanced, food-based eating plan and dietary patterns that illustrate this approach.
  2. List nutrients of concern and food group shortfalls common in the diets of many consumers.
  3. Identify common consumer stumbling blocks that lead to inadequate eating patterns.
  4. Use practical counseling and communications strategies to encourage consumers to adopt more healthful eating patterns.


Instructions

Step 4. Complete the online evaluation form for this CPE program by following this link. At the end of the evaluation, you will be redirected to the IFIC Foundation home page. Return to this CPE page.

Step 5. Download the Certificate of Completion (PDF) and put it in your files to verify completion of the CPE program and to receive one CPE credit hour.
