Ultra-processed foods are often discussed as a single category, yet real-world data tell a more nuanced story. This webinar shared key insights from IFIC-commissioned research completed in partnership with NielsenIQ across five major food categories and based on actual sales data. Presenters shared research results which examine how nutrient density varies widely within Nova 4–classified products and often overlaps with non-NOVA foods. Attendees gained clarity on where processing classifications may fall short and why nutrient density offers a practical framework for nutrition messaging, consumer education, and evidence-based policy conversations.
